History
| Service Record | 2378 - 2382: Starfleet Academy Joey was assigned to protect Federation Ambassadors and other dignitaries straight out of the Academy. Her time protecting dignitaries and Starfleet higher ups prevented a total of four assassination attempts, and revealed a plot to infiltrate Starfleet by a hostile alien. However, the danger of the job made her realize her mortality considering how many injuries she sustained. After six years of close calls that nearly cost her her life on multiple occasions, it was time to put in the request for a more sedate pace. With her request approved, she came to be on Sapientia. While she was taking Security courses at Starfleet Academy, Joey was approached due to her grades and skill level to become a member of the Starfleet Security Protection Branch. Accepting it due to the difference in what she would be doing, Joey learned to respond to unusual and emergency situations on site, use the appropriate levels of force under established protocols, including armed response. She learned all the requirements and use of protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons. She was taught how to control access to a site or facility and how to observe activities to provide for the security and safety of a client. She also learned how to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control devices, as well as preserve order and what steps to take to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises. She performed patrols at sites on foot or in vehicle; checked for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, and security violations and how to control entrances and exits at a site or facility, the movement of people and vehicles, and parking. Teaching also included observing and reporting incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, and responses to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents. She is heavily trained in hand to hand combat and mixed martial arts. She's entered various tournaments among other Starfleet and civilian personnel and placed fairly high in the rankings. During that time, she was also trained as a K-9 Handler/Trainer, and also got her certifications to train others. After she finished the training for the Starfleet Protection Division, she was sent to Bindoon, Australia to be trained as a Search and Rescue Emergency Medical Technician which included how to manage trauma patients prior to evacuation and provide emergency medical treatment for five weeks. For the next seventeen weeks, she learned how to do minor field surgery, pharmacology, combat trauma management, advanced airway management and military evacuation procedures.
