History

Personal History Born to Betazoid parents in the city of Hedaya near to the Cataran Mountains, Kenura was an only child and betrothed at birth to Rennen Lokn, son of her parents most close, trusted friends. The young girl led a fairly simple life, deeply loved by her parents. At school she developed a love for the ocean after going on several trips to the coast and ended up going to university where she studied Marine Geology. During her childhood she met Rennen several times, liking him but not really seeing why she had been betrothed to him. To her, he was simply a family friend. However, things changed when he too went to the same university as her and studied marine biology. With a mutual love of the ocean, their friendship blossomed and gradually turned into more. Both sets of parents were overjoyed when the couple announced their intention to make good on their betrothal and married. After university the pair travelled around Betazed, working together on research and after just a couple of years, Kenura discovered that she was pregnant.

Life was idyllic and they became increasingly excited about the baby arriving. Tragically when she was nine months along, she had an accident on board the research ship where they were living at the time. Slipping on some wet stairs that led from the upper levels, she fell forward down the entire flight, landing on her stomach. Both Kenura and the baby suffered from severe injuries and due to massive uterine hemorrhaging the fight to save the life of both hung in the balance. A terrible decision faced Rennen as he was forced to choose between his wife and child as only one of them could be saved. He chose Kenura. She was, after all his Imzadi.

After her recovery, Kenura fell into a deep depression and began to blame Rennen for his decision. Argument after argument ensued and the couple grew more distant. As a result, Kenura ended up taking a job which meant she was away from him for months on end and that action became the terminal event in their relationship which ended unceremoniously with a request from her via a simple letter asking for a divorce.

Picking up the pieces of her life, Kenura began to accept assignments elsewhere in the quadrant and became renowned throughout the Federation for her work. Never once looking at another man, she kept herself to herself and strived to be the best at what she did.

In 2388 she accepted a job on the newly colonised world Sapientia where Starfleet had set up its new Academy completely unaware of who was also setting up shop there at the same time.
Major/s (Specialization/s) Marine Geology - The study of the history and structure of the ocean floor—its mountains, canyons, and valleys. Involves geophysical, geochemical, sedimentological and paleontological investigations of the ocean floor and coastal zone. Study of seafloor sediment cores can reveal the history of oceanic circulation and climates over millions of years. The study of the rocky crust beneath the sediments sheds light on the origin of volcanoes, as well as the processes of seafloor spreading and continental drift.
