History
| Personal History | Jake never knew his parents. He was left on the steps of a hospital when he was barely a day old. He was adopted quickly but before he was even able to remember, his adoptive parents were killed when travelling home from the theatre one evening. After this, at the age of two, Jake was put into foster care and taken under the wing of Jed Mistlethwaite an elderly ex Starfleet Intelligence agent who raised him as if he was his own. It was clear from an early age that Jed intended for Jake to follow in the old man's footsteps and during his upbringing he fostered in him the values that would aid him later in life. Jake spent every waking minute when he wasn't at school training in various different martial arts and when he wasn't doing that attending music lessons and playing lead guitar in the band that he and his school friends created. In fact, so good was the band that he was on the verge of making it big in the entertainment business just as he learned that Jed had been murdered. His foster father's death hit Jake hard and at the age of just 18 he went off the rails, turning to alcohol and illegal drugs to numb his pain and sleeping around in an attempt to find comfort. In fact, it was laying face down in a pool of his own vomit after a particularly crazy night on the tiles that he was introduced to the world of Starfleet. It turned out that Jed had left instructions upon his death (which later turned out to be due to an old adversary of his) for Jake who was the apple of his eye to be recruited. Apparently Jed had known people in high places and after being forced through rehab followed by three years at the Academy where he trained in tactical and flight, his training in special ops began. Jake was good at what he did and over the years worked his way up to department head in Special Ops and was subsequently drafted into the shady world of Section 31. However, after an incident where he was tortured almost to death, he re-evaluated his life and decided to get out of the espionage business switching over to flight. It was an attempt to flee from the enemies he had made over the years though his career had left him damaged for life. It turned out that he was equally as talented and soon showed his skills as a pilot. His fighter piloting skills were second to none. With his past finally catching up with him from a previous mission where things had gone awry, Jake needed to lay low which is what prompted him to very reluctantly take the job of flight instructor at Magellan campus. No one would think to find him there after all... |
