• Natural Conservation Department (Introing after current mission) (Fed. Pjcts & Special Ops)

  UFP Department of Colonization employing/contracting both Federation and civilian employees.
  
  Purpose - designating protected areas of importance for flora, fauna, or features of geological or other special interest, which are reserved and managed for purposes of conservation and to provide special opportunities for study or research.

  Conservation Director		Is responsible for managing many acres of natural land surrounding and extending from the colony, and establishing nature preserves. Also assists the colony on the best and most practical ways to use land, like managing parks, forests, and other natural areas.
  Wildlife Xeno-Biologist		Studies the indigenous animals of Sapientia and how they live and interact within their ecosystems. Is required to have either veterinarian training, specializing in xeno-wildlife medicine, or at least trained as a xeno-wildlife field medic.
  Botany Conservationist		Studies and manages the care of Sapientia's plant life within preserves, which in turn, sets guidelines for the planet as a whole. This position also includes both field botany (searching for new plant species), and medicinal botany, helping search for new plants to treat diseases. (more info may come)

• Station Command (Magellan Station)

  The Command department is ultimately responsible for the station and its crew, and those within the department are responsible for commanding the base and representing the interests of Starfleet.
  
  Many start within one of the other divisions before working their way up to command, but all undergo intensive training before they don the red collar.

  Station/Colony Commanding Officer
  Station/Colony Executive Officer		The liaison between captain and crew, the Executive Officer acts as the disciplinarian, personnel manager, advisor to the captain, and much more. S/he is also one of only two officers, along with the Chief Medical Officer, that can remove a Commanding Officer from duty.
  Mission Specialist		The main duty of the Mission Specialist is to make him or herself an expert in the current mission. A combination of a science officer and a tactical officer, the Mission Specialist researches the mission, briefs senior staff and helps come up with strategy to implement the mission. On occasion, an officer will be sent to a starship as a Mission Specialist because he or she is already an expert in a field that is relevant to the ship's mission to augment the crew and provide his or her expertise. For this role, the character needs to be at least Commander in rank, and at least mid-thirties in age. PC role only.
  Command Yeoman		A Yeoman is usually a personal assistant to a command-level officer. File work and sensitive message transport are but two examples of a Yeoman's possible duties. The Yeoman assists their CO in day-to-day duties that the person they are assisting would otherwise not have the time to do. At the Magellan Station this position requires a skilled executive Yeoman. Not only has a good command of the prevailing office language, but is required to type at high speeds using technical or foreign languages, organize diaries, itineraries and meetings and carry out administrative duties which may include accountancy. Is required to be able to interact extensively with the general public and any other person or group that the officer they are assisting is responsible to interact with. An executive Yeoman may also control access to the officer they have been assigned to, thus becoming an influential and trusted aide. This yeoman must have the rank of Petty Officer or higher. This yeoman is the aide for both Command and Executive Officers.
  Special Operations Officer		Special Operations Officer The main duty of Special Operations (Special-Ops) is to provide advanced support to major Starfleet installations to ensure the success of all operations. Starfleet Special Operations officers are drawn from a variety of backgrounds in Starfleet and occasionally fall under Starfleet Intelligence. Special Operations Officers undergo ongoing training and education to ensure that their installation has access to the latest and most advanced information, technology, and tactics. Main Responsibilities: To coordinate and conduct research, development and testing of new technology, provide advanced education and training to senior staff, and provide advanced support to Starfleet operations. Other Responsibilities: To assist indigenous people with training to defend themselves and act as a force multiplier, provide counter-terrorist and insurgency measures, and coordinate activities to test ground force readiness and installation security. This position is going to require a good imagination, the ability to think up your own ideas of what to write, to flesh out your character's duties when ones are not provided.

    Mission Ops Officer		Mission operations (usually shortened to Mission Ops I and II) are two stations in the Operations Center in the Command Building. They provide backup processing of information received by either the Operations Officer or the Chief Science Officer. Their specific purpose and job are changed to accommodate each mission. Mission Ops handles the assignment of resources according to the guidelines specified by the Ops Chief, as well as resolving low-level conflicts among missions, whereas primary conflicts will be directly handled by the Ops officer. Mission Ops officers serve as relief Ops officers when, for example, the Ops chief is away from their station in the Operations Center. During alert situations, they also assist the Security officer, providing information on away teams and so forth. A Mission Ops officer: • will be the one in charge of communication between the SAR or other special ops teams and between the teams and the station. • will be the one to ensure the teams have all their equipment before every mission and that the support crafts are ready. • and anything else they may need to achieve their mission. This position is more likely to be filled by Command Division trained or Operations officers. A PC position if you think you can give yourself plenty to do between role-played away team scenarios. Also opened as a PNPC position, you'll be required to roleplay when needed.
    Ops Centre Flight Control Officer		This officer monitors the air traffic moving in and out of the immediate vicinity of the base, providing information when needed for command decisions. This is probably best as an NPC position, not a PC position unless you think you can give yourself plenty to do.

• Phlox Medical Academy (Campus & Teaching Hospital)

  Phlox Medical Academy consist of a medical school and teaching hospital associated with Starfleet Medical and Starfleet Academy Magellan Campus. Students wishing to become physicians and nurses within Starfleet may apply to the Academy.
  
  In addition to educating medical officers for service in the fleet, Starfleet Medical Academy also participates in medical research in collaboration with other Starfleet Academy departments.
  
  It's medical department is also responsible for the physical health of those who live and work at Magellan Campus. Because of it's specialties in these areas and in support of those training there, those who live at Magellan Station and Serene Colony come to Phlox Medical for obstetrical care and physical therapy.

    Medical Yeoman		A medical yeoman is an enlisted officer, one who performs administrative and clerical duties within the medical department, has medical clerical knowledge such as medical terminology, managing medical records, and ensures the Starfleet Medical Database is continuously updated.
    Physician		A physician, also known as a medical doctor or medical practitioner, is an individual, typically a doctor, who practices in the field of medical science. It is a physician's duty to save the lives of ailing patients, while at the same time preserve the life of healthy patients.
    Surgeon/Field Medicine
    Surgeon		Doctors of the Federation still specialize, and mostly, the Chief Medical Officer position is usually held by a surgeon. While simple surgery is part of their training, some doctors on larger vessels, starbases, and facilities prefer to have a extra surgeon on staff.
    Anesthesiologist		Anesthesiologists are physicians who provide medical care to patients in a wide variety of (usually acute) situations. These can include delivering anaesthesia/monitoring delta-wave inducer during surgical procedures, caring for critically ill patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), managing medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests and traumas, the inter-hospital transfer of unwell patients, and the management of acute and chronic pain conditions. Anesthesiologists are responsible for ensuring the delivery of anesthesia safely to patients in virtually all health care settings. This includes a preoperative evaluation, consultation with the surgical team, creating a plan for the anesthesia tailored to each individual patient, airway management, intraoperative life support and provision of pain control, intraoperative diagnostic stabilization, and proper post-operative management of patients. Preparation of patients for emergency surgery are mandatory, essential, and critical skills that anesthesiologists have been trained to employ. ~~~
    Family Medicine
    LTMH Program		The Emergency Medical Hologram, or EMH is a sophisticated holographic program used upon Starfleet starships and facilities to assist medical staff in times of emergency. EMH Mark XI is the latest EMH program to be developed by Dr. Zimmerman, while his former partner, Reginald Barclay continues his work to further improve the program. After using female templates for the Mark IX and X, the Mark XI returned to using a male template for its holographic matrix and personality profile. More on the EMH is on the wiki.
    Head Nurse		The Head Nurse oversees all the Nurses within their division/s of the Academy's Teaching Hospital, ensuring they are assigned to tasks and working as required in their area. Additionally the Head nurse performs the normal duties of the nurse, assisting the Duty Medical Officer.
    Nurse		Nurses are trained in basic medical care, and are capable of dealing with less serious medical cases. In more serious matters the nurse assists the medical officer in the examination and administration of medical care, be this injecting required drugs, or simply assuring the injured party that they will be ok. The Nurses also maintain the medical wards, overseeing the patients and ensuring they are receiving medication and care as instructed by the Medical Officer.

S/he assists in flight guidance, keeps track of ships, assigns docking areas/hangers or orbital patterns (for large ships), and maintains communications. S/he also directs and is assisted by numerous other specialized controllers, such as: flight activity/dynamics, communication/tracking, operations support, and guidance/navigation. This position reports to the Senior Flight Control Officer, or to the ACFO when the SFCO is not on duty.
  Flight Deck Manager/PNPC		Once vessels have -------------, they fall under the direction of the Flight Deck Manager. S/he is responsible for all docking facilities within the Starbase complex., transporters, and craft assigned to the Spaceport. S/he oversees the boarding and disembarkation of all passengers, the loading/unloading of cargo and luggage, and vessel refueling/repair. The FDM has a large staff of flight mechanics, baggage handlers, landsmen, general maintenance operators, cargo specialists, and the like to carry out flight deck operations.
  Shuttlecraft Maintenance Specialist		Shuttlecraft Maintenance is a specialized Engineer post. This Officer is assigned to the Shuttle Maintenance Deck/bay (sometimes called the Flight Deck, but generally only if Fighter Pilot personnel are assigned) and is responsible for the service and repair of all small vessels assigned to the Starbase. Is responsible for pre and post-flight checks of all support craft involved in away missions. The flight deck must maintain a set number of crafts at all times for evacuation purposes in case of emergency. A team is assigned to the Engineer in charge of Shuttlecraft Maintenance, which is made up from NCO personnel assigned by the Assistant and Chief Engineer. The Engineer in charge of Shuttlecraft Maintenance reports to the Flight Deck Manager. Should the vessel or facility have a dedicated Fighter Pilot Department assigned, then the maintenance of these craft falls under the service of the Shuttlecraft Maintenance teams, Engineer in charge of Shuttlecraft Maintenance will report the required information to the Wing Commander.

  Covert Intel Unit Commander
  Intel Field Officer		The field officer conducts his work in the field, joining away missions or supporting diplomatic missions and both reporting and collecting information about their mission specific objectives. Often in the field operatives are expected to conduct missions that involve gathering first hand observations, this can include taking images of a target (surveillance) or the covert "removal" of information from target installations. Most field officers have some degree of military training, many are former Ground Troops or other Starfleet personnel who are now working for intelligence. These operatives apply their previous assignment knowledge to their assignments and often are called upon to conduct operations both undercover and in the open.
  Intel Medical Specialist

• Security/Tactical Operations (Magellan Station)

  Security is responsible for the interior security of Magellan Orbital Station and the Colony below. In this function, they act in ways analogous to local and regional police agencies, but Starfleet Security's mandate extends much farther than that. They are also responsible for maintaining and enforcing Starfleet Security regulations, procedures and policies. In addition, they are responsible for security clearances of all Starfleet/UFP personnel. Officers with both security and tactical training provide security for away teams.
  
  
  Tactical is responsible for the safety and well-being of the station and colony, the planet of Sapientia as a whole by using necessary force to counter any external threats. They operate a ship's or station's weapons and deal with threats outside the orbital station and colony world. Often, the Tactical officer also advises the commanding officer of the risk of entering any dangerous situation.

  Security/Tactical Chief		The Chief Security Officer is called Chief of Security, or Security Chief. Her/his duty is to ensure the safety of ship and crew. Some take it as their personal duty to protect the Commanding Officer/Executive Officer on away teams. She/he is also responsible for people under arrest and the safety of guests, liked or not. S/he also is a department head and a member of the senior staff, responsible for all the crew members in her/his department and duty rosters. Security could be called the 24th century police force. The Chief of Security role can also be combined with the Chief Tactical Officer position.
  Deputy Security/Tactical Chief		The Assistant Chief Security Officer is sometimes called Deputy of Security or Deputy Security Chief. S/he assists the Chief of Security in the daily work; in issues regarding Security and any administrative matters. If required the Deputy must be able to take command of the Security department.
  Campus Security Chief/PNPC		The Chief of Campus Security's duty is to ensure the safety of the Academy Campus. She/he is also responsible for people under arrest and the safety of guests, liked or not. S/he also is a campus department head and a member of the campus senior staff, responsible for all the crew members in her/his department and duty rosters. Will assist the Security Dept instructor- Dept Head in prep squad drill instructing. Answers to Magellan Station's Chief of Security and Tactical Operations. Positions in this dept are very limited to the join app. The Player of this position will be responsible to create a security atmosphere of there being an entire security dept of personnel on the campus. ***
  Gunner`s Mate		The Gunner`s Mate trains and supervises Tactical crewmen in tactical operations, repairs, and protocols; maintains duty assignments for all Tactical personnel; supervises ordnance inventory, preparation, and deployment; and is qualified to temporarily act as Assistant Chief Tactical Officer if so ordered. The Gunner`s Mate reports to the Chief Tactical Officer.
  Master-at-Arms		The Master-at-Arms trains and supervises Security crewmen in departmental operations, repairs, and protocols; maintains duty assignments for all Security personnel; supervises weapons locker access and firearm deployment; and is qualified to temporarily act as Chief of Security if so ordered. The Master-at-Arms reports to the Chief of Security.

  Tactical Systems Operator		The Tactical Systems Operators are the vessels/facility's gunmen. Their job is the proper operation and maintenance the numerous weapons systems aboard the ship/starbase, and analysis and tactical planning of current missions. They are the enlisted equivalent to the Tactical Officer

  Brig Officer		The Brig Officer is a Security Officer who has chosen to specialize in a specific role. S/he guards the brig and its cells. But there are other duties associated with this post as well. S/he is responsible for any prisoner transport, and the questioning of prisoners. Often Brig Officers have a good knowledge of forcefield technology, and are experts in escaping such confinements.

    The Magellan Special Tactics Unit (STU-14) is an elite special operations tactical unit. They are trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular officers. Their duties include performing hostage rescues and counter-terrorism operations, serving high risk arrest and search warrants, subduing barricaded suspects, and engaging heavily-armed criminals.

  Chief of Operations		The Chief Operations Officer oversees the Starbase Operations Dept, and is a member of the senior staff. This Officer often works out of the Operations Center. While on some outpost and space stations, this officer would also manage some of the engineering duties. To have a full understanding on what this position requires on Serene Colony, please read the Departmental descript under Departments on the Sim menu tab.
  Assistant Chief of Operations		The Chief Operations Officer cannot man the Ops Center at all times. Extra personnel are needed to relive and maintain starship operations. The Operations Officers are thus assistants to the Chief, fulfilling his/her duties when required, and assuming the Operations consoles if required at any time. The Assistant Chief of Operations Officer is the second-in-command of the Operations Department when on a Starbase, and can assume the role of Chief of Operations on a temporary or permanent basis if so needed.
  Senior Transporter Chief/PNPC		The Transporter Chief is responsible for all transports to and from other ships and any planetary bodies. When transporting is not going on, the Transporter Chief is responsible for keeping the transporters running at peak efficiency.
  Operations Officer		The Chief Operations Officer cannot man the Ops Center at all times. Extra personnel are needed to relive and maintain ship operations. The Operations Officers are thus assistants to the Chief, fulfilling his/her duties when required, and assuming the Operations consoles if required at any time. The Operations Officer reports to the Chief of Operations Officer.
  Quartermaster Chief		The Quartermaster Warrant Officer trains and supervises crewmen in Starbase Bridge operations, repairs, and protocols and sets the agenda for instruction in general ship and starbase operations for the Boatswain's Mate; maintains the starbase's log, the starbase's clock, and watch and duty assignments for all starbase bridge personnel; may assume any Bridge (i.e. CONN) or Operations role (i.e. transporter) as required; and is qualified to temporarily act as Commanding or Executive Officer if so ordered. This quartermaster is also responsible for electronic systems that deal with navigation, internal communications, atmosphere monitoring, and remote valve indication or manipulation. These Quartermasters ensure that all enlisted officers and crew perform their duties consistent with Starfleet directives. The Quartermaster reports to the Executive Officer. And is second only to the Command Chief amongst Enlisted personnel on the starbase. Replicator usage can allow the fabrication of nearly any critical mission part, but large-scale replication is not considered energy-efficient except in emergency situations. However, in such situations, power usage is strictly limited, so it is unwise to depend upon the availability of replicated spare parts. Working under and answering to the Quartermaster Chief are the QM Materials Officer-who is responsible for keeping track of stock, and for the ordering from Starfleet, and the Quartermaster's Mate-an NCO that assists either the Quartermaster Chief or Material Officer and helps out in the Operations Department wherever needed.

  Starfighter Squadron Leader		The squadron Leader is in charge of all things related to his flight's fighters, generally a responsibility of up to 12 starfighters. As well, the squadron leader is responsible for all the personnel assigned to the flight on the ship/facility, and ensuring that maintenance work is carried on the craft by Engineering. This officer reports to the Executive Officer or Commanding Officer. Both Starfighter Pilot and Tactical Systems Operator positions will be made available once this position has been filled. Possible NPCs will be provided as well.
  Starfighter Pilot		Specialized pilot, trained in all areas and aspects of fighter combat. They are also familiar with runabouts, shuttles and transports.
  Tactical Systems Operator		The Tactical Systems Operator (or TSO) is responsible for operating all offensive and defensive systems in fighters which have two operators. This frees the pilot to handle only the operation of the aerospacecraft. Most TSOs are also trained as pilots, for circumstances when the main pilot of the fighter is incapacitated or killed but the craft is still servicable. The TSO answers to the Flight Leader, and is generally subordinate to the Fighter Pilot operating his/her craft. Because of the location of the TSO's seat in most fighters, the position is sometimes known as the 'back seater'. This position is only opened when there is a pilot in need of a TSO.

    Dean of Education		Ultimately responsible for all aspects of the Campus and crew, also known as the Commandant, the Commanding Officer is the most senior officer assigned to Magellan Campus. S/he is responsible for carrying out the orders of Starfleet, and for representing both Starfleet and the Federation. As Dean of Education, S/he is responsible for, is the head of, academic departments, faculty, and student services. Also referred to as the Commandant. ***
    Assistant Dean of Education		As this area of the sim is not very busy, this is PNPC position, at least for the time being. The liaison between the CO/Dean and assigned personnel, the Executive Officer/Assistant Dean acts as the disciplinarian, personnel manager, advisor to the CO, and much more. S/he is also one of only two officers, along with the Chief Medical Officer, that can remove a Commanding Officer from duty. ***
    Dean's Yeoman/Aide		As this area of the sim is not very busy, this is PNPC position, at least for the time being. A Yeoman is usually a personal assistant to a command-level officer. File work and sensitive message transport are but two examples of the Yeoman's possible duties. The Yeoman assists their CO in day-to-day duties that the person they are assisting would otherwise not have the time to do. At the Academy this position requires a skilled executive Yeoman. Not only has a good command of the prevailing office language, but is required to type at high speeds using technical or foreign languages, organize diaries, itineraries and meetings and carry out administrative duties which may include accountancy. Is required to be able to interact extensively with the general public and any other person or group that the officer they are assisting is responsible to interact with. An executive Yeoman may also control access to the officer they have been assigned to, thus becoming an influential and trusted aide. This yeoman must have the rank of Petty Officer or higher.
    Command & Administration Academic Dept. Head		The Command Division is the corps of officers within Starfleet who specialized in command and control functions on starbases, aboard starships, and at Starfleet Command. Members of the command division were trained in leadership and had tactical training allowing them to decisively take action in organizing and mobilizing Starfleet crews to perform missions. Command division personnel also filled posts as tactical officers and sometimes in ordnance departments. This dept head is in charge of, and instructs core subjects in the field for all cadets, and specific courses for those who have chosen a degree in the Command Division. Training of Command Division bridge officers, and Strategic Operations. Preparations are taught to cadets for Starfleet Command school. The Starfleet Command School is a graduate-level institution that has facilities on core Federation worlds. It is responsible for training officers who wish to enter the command branch, typically if they did not start their career there. Most bridge officers already have this sort of training, but the command school goes in depth into personnel management, tactics, and other necessary traits for command.     Security/Tactical Operations Academic Dept. Head		The Tactical Corps is concerned with the protection of Federation citizens. They are trained to serve on a ship to ship level. Tactical as a department on a ship is responsible for the planning of defensive strategies. They are in charge of the ship's weapons and there will at all times be a Tactical officer on the bridge. On smaller ships, Security and Tactical are under the same department as it is a possible combination to do at the academy, having one as a primary degree and the other as secondary. The Security Corps is a branch of Starfleet responsible for safeguarding the Federation from outside threats, and for conducting criminal investigations. The Security / Tactical Department(s) onboard a Starship, Starbase, or Planetary Facility all have a single goal: The safety of their assignment and it's crew. Security cadets are trained to take care of any internal security threats. This means intruders, hostile entities, protection of VIPs, and ship personnel and passengers ect. Tactical officers can also work within Research and Development, specifically with weapon development. These officers will not be serving on ships as normal tactical officers. This dept head is in charge of, and instructs core subjects in the field for all cadets, and specific courses for those who have chosen a degree in the Tactical Corps and/or Security Corps. Tactical training involves the use of simulators that recreate the bridge of a starship and cadets also spend time on real vessels that have been assigned to the Academy. Security Training includes a semester covering basic combat triage, weapon maintenance and repair, and survival. ***

  Chief Science Officer
  Assistant Chief Science Officer		The Assistant Chief Science Officer assists Chief Science Officer in all areas, such as administration, and analysis of scientific data. The Assistant often take part in specific analysis of important data along with the Chief Science Officer, however spends most time overseeing current project and their section heads.
  Alien Archaeologist/Anthropologist		Specialized Science Officer in charge of the Alien Culture Section. This role involves the study of all newly discovered alien species and life forms, from the long dead to thriving. Their knowledge also involves current known alien species. Has close ties to the Historian. Answers to the Chief Science Officer and Assistant Chief Science Officer.
  Archaeology Cadet Intern

  Biology Specialist		Specialized Science Officer in charge of the Biology Section. This role entails the study of biology, botany, zoology and many more Life Sciences. On larger ships there many be a number of Science Officers within this section, under the lead of the Biologist.
  Botanical Engineer
  Language Specialist		Specialized Communications Officer in charge of the Linguistics section. This role involves the study of new and old languages and text in an attempt to better understand and interpret their meaning. Answers to the Chief and Assistant Chief Communications Officer (if present) or the Chief and Assistant Chief Science Officer.
  Astrometrics Officer		Specialized Science Officer in charge of the Astrometrics Section. This role entails the maintaining, correction and production of new stellar maps. Has close ties with the the Physicist and Stellar Cartographers.
  Stellar Cartographer		Specialized Science Officer in charge of the Stellar Cartography bay. This role entails the mapping of all spatial phenomenon, and the implications of such phenomenon. Has close ties with the Physicist and Astrometrics Officer.
  Science Officer		There are several general Science Officers aboard each vessel. They are assigned to their duties by the Chief Science Officer and his Assistant. Assignments include work for the Specialized Section heads, as well as duties for work being carried out by the Chief and Assistant.

• Piper Medical Center (Magellan Station)

  A branch off Phlox Medical Academy/Teaching Hospital is Piper Medical, which is located within Magellan Station. It's medical department is responsible for the physical health of the Station crew, from running annual physicals to working with Piper Medical Research in combating a strange plague that is afflicting the crew. It has a clinic located on the Station's promenade, and another is located within the civilian populace outside of the Station.

  Assistant Chief Medical Officer		The Asst. Chief Medical Officer at Piper Medical is in charge of the station medical center in all areas, such as administration, and application of medical care, yet reports to the Chief Medical Officer at Phlox Medical. This includes a clinic on the Station's promenade, another location within the civilian populace outside of the Station, and band-aid stations scattered about.
  Medical Officer		Medical Officer undertake the majority of the work aboard the ship/facility, examining the crew, and administering medical care under the instruction of the Chief Medical Officer and Assistant Chief Medical Officer also run the other Medical areas not directly overseen by the Chief Medical Officer.
  Surgeon		Doctors of the federation still specialize and mostly, the Chief Medical Officer position is usually held by a general practitioner. While simple surgery is part of their training, some doctors on larger vessels and starbases prefer to have a surgeon on staff. The surgeon at Piper Medical is for minor surgeries, as major surgeries are done over at Phlox Medical.
  Head Nurse		The Head Nurse oversees all the Nurses currently aboard, ensuring they are assigned to tasks and working as required in their area. Additionally the Head nurse performs the normal duties of the nurse, assisting the Duty Medical Officer in sickbay.
  Nurse		Nurses are trained in basic medical care, and are capable of dealing with less serious medical cases. In more serious matters the nurse assists the medical officer in the examination and administration of medical care, be this injecting required drugs, or simply assuring the injured party that they will be ok. The Nurses also maintain the medical wards, overseeing the patients and ensuring they are receiving medication and care as instructed by the Medical Officer.
  LTMH Program		The Emergency Medical Hologram, or EMH is a sophisticated holographic program used upon Starfleet starships and facilities to assist medical staff in times of emergency. EMH Mark XI is the latest EMH program to be developed by Dr. Zimmerman, while his former partner, Reginald Barclay continues his work to further improve the program. After using female templates for the Mark IX and X, the Mark XI returned to using a male template for its holographic matrix and personality profile. More on the EMH is on the wiki.

    Medical Lab Technician		Clinical laboratory testing is crucial to detecting and diagnosing diseases. Laboratory technicians perform most of these tests. These technicians examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells. They look for bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms. They analyze the chemical content of fluids, match blood for transfusions and test for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment. People in this field use automated equipment and sophisticated, expensive instruments capable of performing a number of tests simultaneously. They also use other lab equipment, including microscopes and cell counters. Lab technicians also maintain glassware, instruments, logs and record books. They also troubleshoot and help with special projects. The medical laboratory technician performs general tests in all laboratory areas ? Blood banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology and Microbiology. Working with the supervision of a medical technologist, a medical laboratory technician hunts for clues to the absence, presence, extent, and causes of diseases. Medical laboratory technicians must be accurate, dedicated and skilled. They must also be self-motivated, and take the initiative to do what must be done everyday ? to pitch in to help the healthcare team.

  Chief Counselor		Because of their training in psychology, technically the ship's/facility's Counselor is considered part of Starfleet medical. The Counselor is responsible both for advising the Commanding Officer in dealing with other people and races, and in helping crew members with personal, psychological, and emotional problems. The Chief Counselor is considered a member of the Senior Staff. S/he is responsible for the crew in his/her department. The Chief Counselor is the Counselor with the highest rank and most experience.
  Assistant Chief Counselor
  Counselor		Because of their training in psychology, technically the ship's/facility's Counselor is considered part of Starfleet medical. The Counselor is responsible both for advising the Commanding Officer in dealing with other people and races, and in helping crew members with personal, psychological, and emotional problems.
  Counselor's Aide		The Counselor's Aide helps keep all the matters of the Counseling Department in order. S/he assigns appointments for anyone needing them, and assists the Counselors with anything that they may need.
  Morale Officer		With a small staff underneath them, this person is responsible for keeping the morale of Serene Colony's personnel high. They deliver regular reports on morale to the Executive Officer and plan activities that will keep the personnel/faculty/student morale and demeanor up. This position is only to be taken as a role, PC or NPC, by a player who is dedicated to creating scenarios that will involve characters of other players, having to do with this position's description.
