Intead of the mag-lev type carriar..its a rounded turbolift' elevator, with a tube through it's middle that the tether goes through.

Once they are inside it, I was going to descibe it as having couch like seating along its outer walls, room to fit a dozen people comfortably.

It's more along the lines of what I am trying to describe...just imagine it more 24th century trek-like in design.
